Rodney Scrase flew Spitfires with No.72 Squadron over North Africa, Sicily and Italy. He scored four victories and three damaged, and was awarded the DFC. In the last months of the war, he joined No.1 Squadron at Manston and flew bomber escort missions over Europe.
