Remember Me? - Limited Edition print
B-17G Flying Fortress 'Remember Me?' of the 457th B.G., 8th Air Force homeward bound to Glatton in England on 6th August 1944 with the help of a P-51 Mustang of the 20th F.G.
"Remember Me?" was on a mission to Genshagen near Berlin when it was struck by another B17, severely damaging the vertical stabilizer and rudder. Despite this, pilot Captain Charles E. Barrier was able to bring his aircraft home.
The 457th was known as the 'Fireball Outfit', and dropped 16,915 tons of bombs on occupied territory. They flew 236 missions, lost 86 aircraft in action with 729 men either killed, missing or taken prisoner.
Charles E.Barrier, flew 30 missions during WWII, approximately half of them in this aircraft.
The other crew members were Hugh C.Sloan (Co-Pilot), George S.Inman (Navigator), Clinton E.Wells (Bombardier), Kenneth Christensen (Flt.Engineer), Donald J.Fehrman (Radio Operator), Wilbur A.Kurtz (Gunner), Robert P.Ingraham (Gunner), Thomas J.Ambrose (Gunner) and Martin E.Darling (Gunner).
